Bayview Chateau TongariroDay 1:
After checking into the Bayview Chateau Tongariro in the afternoon, we suggest you visit the Whakapapa Visitor Centre - it's one of the best in the country.

Day 2:
Pick up by the Guide at 9am from Reception. You will be taken to the top of Mount Ruapehu. Ride the chair lifts from the car park to the Knoll Ridge Chalet, New Zealand's highest restaurant at 2000 metres. From there you'll walk to Dome Shelter at 2672 metres where you'll see the famous crater lake surrounded by snow capped peaks with majestic Mt Tongariro and Mount Ngauruhoe in the background. On a good day you can see both coasts.

Emerald LakesDay 3:
On day 3 you'll embark on what is known as the best one day walk in New Zealand - the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Your route takes you past the active Red Crater and onto the brilliantly coloured Emerald and Blue Lakes. And then pass Mt Ngauruhoe. 6-8 hours walking one way. NOTE: Due to volcanic activity the section of track between Emerald Lakes and Ketetahi Road remains closed until further notice. As a result the trek will start from Mangatepopo Road walking up to the Red Crater and return back to Mangatepopo Road. 6-8 hours return.

Day 4:
Day 4 is a reserve day, and you can choose from several shorter walks, including the magnificent Taranaki Falls, Silica Rapids and Tama Lakes.
