NZSSI COURSE LOCATION

All NZSSI courses are conducted at Temple Basin Ski Area which is located within Arthurs Pass National Park, 4km west of Arthurs Pass Village. Temple Basin is situated right on the Main Divide of the Southern Alps.

ACCOMMODATION and MEALS

All course fees include accommodation and meals at Temple Basin. The accommodation at the Temple Basin Lodges is Bunk Room only. Sleeping Bags are required.

NOTE: Dinner is not provided for on the arrival night; for courses that commence after the evening meal. Dinner on the arrival night is an additional cost (if required).

GETTING THERE

The 150 km drive from Christchurch City to the Temple Basin Car Park takes approximately 2 hours. The Temple Basin car park is set beside State Highway 73, 4kms west of Arthurs Pass Village. From its well-defined walking track the walk takes you up to the Lodge and the Ski Field. The walk takes 45-minutes in good conditions, and gives you wonderful views of the Pass and the surrounding mountains. Its is a good idea to bring sturdy footware for the walk up the mountain track. A free baggage lift carries your gear up the mountain for you.

THE GOODS LIFT

The Temple Basin Goods Lift will transport your gear up the mountain. There is no charge for this service.

The baggage lift is located 300m west of the Temple Basin car park along State Highway 73 (towards the West Coast).

BUS TRANSPORT - Christchurch -Temple Basin - Greymouth

Atomic Shuttles Departs Christchurch City (Opposite Holy Grail, 88 Worcester Street, Christchurch) daily at 7.30am and arrives Temple Basin Goodslift at 10:05am.
Departs Temple Basin daily at 2:20pm; and arrives Christchurch City (Cathedral Square) at 5:30pm.

TRAIN TRANSPORT

Trans Alpine Rail transport is available from Christchurch City to Arthurs Pass Village. A truly scenic rail trip.

Departs Christchurch City daily at 8.15am and arrives Arthurs Pass at 10:42am.

Departs Arthurs Pass daily at 3:57pm and arrives Christchurch City at 6:05pm.

2010 COST: NZ$25.00 each way; for up to 6-passengers, (subject to rate variations and price changes).

CANCELLATIONS for NZ Snow Safety Institute Courses

All cancellations of New Zealand Snow Safety Institute course bookings must be in writing. A 30% cancellation fee will be levied up to one month before the course commences. A 60% fee up to two weeks prior, and thereafter a 100% fee will be levied.
